A Drifting Breeze

Leaves fall spiraling dance
Drift alone but in a breeze of chance
Countless colors of yellow and gold
Even the darkest browns becoming bold
The garden rustling with the wonder of where spring fled
Aster and mum sharing their purple and red

Naked and alone in a world grown cold

Where has the buttercup, the iris, and violet gone
Beneath a blanket of earth to sleep as the nights grow long

In the night

With the setting of the sun
And rising of the moon
Stars unseen glow with new life
I watch in silence
Becoming lost between worlds
One infinite
Filling all my sight
The other
Even more expansive
Filling my thoughts
With mystery and hope

Migraines and melodies

Somewhere I lost my way
Somehow I went off the path
Overhead the storms are raging
Deep down a flood is rising
I hear a cyclone blowing
It’s wind is tearing me apart
Emotions turn toxic with the pain

I can still see your face and hear your words
Just can’t bring myself to understand
Why are you still holding on
To a person as lost as me
When life would be better to just leave

A Summer Day

There is beauty in the dance of the butterfly

An image in contrast to the blue of the sky

Her yellow wings beating out rythm to nature’s song

A peaceful presence helping to move time along

And magically blending the colors to green below

With a pleasant smile I say to her a quick hello

Her time more important than you or I

It does not matter when she makes to me no reply

Prayers for Forgiveness

Pull me from the darkness, lift me back into the light
Fill this empty vessel, fill this hole I have inside
Am I worth forgiveness, I can’t make myself believe
Show me that you’re listening and tear this devil out of me

Silence

The katydid and tree frog chirping out a lullaby

In the shade of the great oaks

The summer sun now just breaking above the distant hills

Filling the air with warmth

A soft breeze moves the green leaves and tall grasses

The passing cooler air drifting down through the hollow

Carrying with it the smell of flowers from beyond sight

Lulling tired old men into a quiet reflection

Silent as a shadow

Breathing in the peace of the world

The Nightingale Calls

There is a time when the stars all align
Showering the heavens glistening crystal brilliance down

And the blue sky turns to blackened velvet
Sparkling with the light of an infinity of diamonds

Green oceans with frothing white capped waves
Become pacific and restful
Mediterranean mixing with a Persian hue bringing with it a deeper calming blue

The once tempest winds idle into a soft southern breeze
Blowing tropic scented fragrance to allure the mind

And all this beauty is here just for you

A paradise lost to a wanderers sight
Remembered only in silent pools of memory and regret
Not nearly forgotten by his heart
Those binding devotions of words and emotion

This love I still have of you

An empty room

she’s a mystery

secrets veiled in hidden meaning

whispered words

silk smooth

fold the world in around bared flesh

smiles mask true desires

but for the eyes

no haze could dim those radiant lights

only fools know the pleasures such sin delights

passion grows uncontrollably

intentions lost in opium dreams

here the lotus blooms into eternity

sweet scented incense charms away the spirit

rosey pink breasts trace pendulum lines in circular orbits

entangled

limbs search out loves hidden pleasure

each breath a release of resistance from the body and mind

and an addiction of pain comforts

when alone in solitude

only the shadow of her memory remains
